One legacy of modern medicine’s success is that our society has grown older. As an inevitable consequence, every person will eventually suffer from, or will know someone who suffers from, a debilitating disease. With that bleak prospect looming as a certainty, a revolution in medicine, organized under the broad banner of regenerative medicine, is seeking to improve our collective fate.
