Our lab aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms that regulate the development of cardiac diseases, including cardiac complications associated with diabetes. Our current focus is on understanding how intracellular chloride channels, by maintaining chloride homeostasis, mediate these effects. To address this, we utilize mice and cellular models including induced pluripotent stem cells, high-resolution imaging, biochemistry, and electrophysiology. Our ultimate objective is to develop targeted therapeutic interventions to combat cardiometabolic disorders.
