My doctoral research investigates how a small RNA molecule, microRNA-192, guides human stem cells toward a pancreatic beta cell fate. Using a CRISPR-Cas9-engineered, inducible miRNA system, I aim to improve the consistency and efficiency of stem cell-derived beta cell production. This research will not only uncover networks by which microRNA-192 regulates pancreatic differentiation, but also advance our efforts to develop effective stem cell-derived treatments for Type 1 Diabetes.
