Sex hormones can influence healing outcomes in the knee meniscus. To study this as an undergraduate student, Elizabeth aims to investigate sex differences in the human meniscus cell response. Elizabeth Chuesh will perform decoupling of nascent matrix production and cell migration after injury stimulus to study potential sex differences in response to estradiol treatment. With estradiol treatment, a methionine analog, and immunocytochemistry, she can visualize healing outcomes across sex differences with a bigger picture of understanding how to support equitable healthcare.
