Heart rhythm problems can be serious or even life-threatening. Our team is working on determining if stem-cells can be used as a treatment for heart rhythm disorders such as scar-based arrhythmias that can occur after a heart attack (MI) or heart surgery. Current treatment strategies for these arrhythmias require the creation of more scar in the heart. If we are successful, we will have created a completely new form of therapy that treats these arrhythmia by regenerating the heart tissue instead of creating more scar.
