Giachelli Lab

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Giachelli laboratory in the Department of Bioengineering, University of Washington. This fellow is sought to identify molecular and cellular therapeutic targets for vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease and perform preclinical testing in a mouse model of renal insufficiency. The available project incorporates a variety of cellular and molecular biological approaches (cell culture, gene expression and functional assays, immunoprecipitation, BRET assays etc.), tissue-specific genetic targeting mouse models, histology and tissue analysis. There will be many opportunities to benefit from the rich and diverse scientific environment of University of Washington and through the group established collaborations.

A background in nephrology, vascular biology or matrix biology is highly recommended. Experience with mouse surgery and in vivo experimental design, and protein-protein interaction is preferred.  Ability to work in a team, generate publications, contribute to grants and progress reports, and maintain meticulous records is required.
