Our group is interested in studying and optimizing cancer therapies, including immunotherapies and stem cell approaches, before they are administered to the patient. To better preserve the tumor microenvironment and simulate the drug’s mechanism of action, we use intact human tissue or human tissue surrogates and organ on a chip (microfluidic) platforms that multiplex drug delivery over small tissue areas. Our research will ultimately result in commercially-available platforms that will allow for predicting the effects of drugs in human tumors, both to improve drug discovery and to improve personalized oncology.
